I see a sneaky sr floating around in the background of a couple of them pictures :P. Good to see its running mate, think yourself lucky that your only breaking 1 or 2 rocker arms and not every rocker arm and bending most of the valves like i did... Try taking the hose off and giving the inside a clean and then putting it back on. Ive been away for work since yours was getting built so im finaly screwing my ve head on this week! Btw nice slicks thats the exact same size im running :)

 

Yeah bud haha and your not wrong, i did kind of consider myself lucky but not because it broke but WHERE it broke, i was lucky it was in townsville and not in the middle of nowhere on the drive home from townsville (1000k drive lol) and you know thats exactly what i ended up doing (giving the hose a clean out) and it actually turned out to be a 3 hr job!

It turned out the clamp that was on it was kinda dodgy and i think it was stripped,

 

the first clamp i got, i broke it, after i'd filled the radiator back up with fluid too,

the 2nd one was slightly too big, then i finally got a new clamp and it just fits lol and i couldnt of been f**ked goin back to try get the next size down, im still not 100% confident its actually clamped properly but it didnt seem to be leaking today when i drove it so we'll see tomorrow after the races i guess haha

 

I can't wait to see yours in action man its gunna be off tap! You decided on turbo yet? (i cant remember if you've said what turbo you'll be running so i thought i'd ask again)

hmm, its hard for me to explain because im only new to links and the whole rev limit thing but as far as i can recall it was set to "IGN%cut" so we changed that to Fuel%cut and it had advanced mode on but before it had adaptive set to on and now its just changed to constant, The current new settings are the same as the old ones only things we changed are what i just mentioned

 

cut effect was constant,

the limit control range was 200rpm,

hard limit is set to 0rpm,

end cut is 100%,

start cut (TP 100%) is 60%,

start cut TP low is 0%TP,

the exit decay rate is 5%/20ms,

and the last value is Limit ignition trim -5.0degrees.

 

if you need any more info on it dude dont hesitate to ask, ive got all my settings saved on the computer so i can just open it and look peice of piss.

Are you running the mighty link in your new setup?

Thanks mate, nah I'm running a haltech ps1000. My previous muppet tuner set the span to 50rpm instead of 200rpm like what u have, so in essence it was like a hard limmiter off the bat, I was breaking rockers left n right lol.

best i could get was a 9.33. Pretty epic fail. terrible 60ft too it was 2.56 with a reaction of 0.98 and a mph of 98.04

that was the last run of the day, i fcked the start completely, not enough revs n it came up short of boost lol, i was reelin him in but after it finally started gripping up at the top of 2nd... But he still crossed the line before me.

I think i need to change the suspension to stock.. And the surface of the strip was really rocky, heaaaaps of loose rocks..

And also we had to nominate our times and i nominated a 9.35 to begin with and i had a breakout so i lowered it to 9.31 but couldn't quite get there.. Was an awesome day but, suprised the shit out of me how many people turned up, there were around 50 competitors, and some pretty fast cars, the fastest car got a 7.7 and that was a yellow xu1 torana with massive mickey thompson full slicks with some kind of big ass v8, mine was the only nissan there and also the only 4 cylinder lol and the only other car with a turbo was an xr6 turbo ba, he had about 370kw atw with mickey thompson et street and he was runnin 9.3's aswell, i think he actually ended up getting a flat 9 towards the end of the day...

Ok so lately since i went to the 1/8 mile ive noticed on highboost setting on full load in pretty much any gear once the car comes onto boost its been having spark issues, as in sometimes (the problem has been on and off) it will completely cut spark from one of the cylinders and then it'll come back to life and then it might pop and misfire and carry one, then other times itll pull all the way till redline without any issues.

 

So this weekend i changed the plugs hoping that would sort out the problem, it didnt. So i got onto a mate and we went for a cruise out of town and plugged his laptop onto my link and done abit of a log and just generally checked over all the temp ranges for limits and the timing maps and just pretty much tried to figure out if it was electronic, but also had a good look through how the whole program works and checked out intake temps while cruising, what the engine temp is at, mine apparently sits at around 85-90 degrees (today was a reasonably hot day i think it was around 32-35 degrees most of the afternoon) and my map is set so that on 100 degrees itll pull timing and lower the rev limit, but we had to change that as its starting to get onto summer and im expecting hot as f**k days (40degrees mostly every day out here no bullshit) and 100 degree intake temps aint that drastic, 110 or 120 however i want it to limit VERY early and also pull timing so we left those values alone coz they were already set good, we also put an innovative wideband up the ass of the exhaust and checked out AFR's, all came back very good.

 

But thats not the only problem, since ive got the car back its been carrying on in 4th gear or 5th gear at WOT (only once boost starts coming on) its been hitting some sort of a limiter. Its been pissing me off pretty badly coz if i want to race someone or do a high speed run or watever it ALWAYS hits this limiter, and it wont break through it, and i havent exactly been tryin too hard to push through it because its a pretty savage limiter and i havent been sure what exactly has been happening when its been limiting if its been leaning out or watever i had no idea, which is the reason we put the wideband on it...

 

So this afternoon we worked out after about a 4 hour cruise that the KPA map (not sure exactly what its called) has been limiting after a certain speed and boost is reached which has been triggering a fuel cut, so we raised the limit from 275kpa upto 300, but (i dont really know how to explain this too well as im only learning still about this particular subject) the limit of 275 changes as the speed increses, so might be doin 120kmh and the map limit is 275kpa, then as we get upto say 150km/h the limit will drop down to 220KPA and because its dropped yet the boost is still the same roughly 21psi its been tripping out and triggering a fault and setting off a fuel cut, so we changed it to 300 across the whole rev range and went out for a cruise and tried to trigger the fuel cut again and no deal, it seems to have fixed the problem.

So im pretty stoked with that because its been a problem since day dot, however there is still the spark issue, which has progressively gotten worse over the past couple weeks since it first started, so during this week we will put a rev meter on each plug lead and see if the spark matches the rpm and if it doesnt hopefully that will tell me which coil pack is having spark issues. (not sure if this will actually work but im not scared of having a go at life)

I have seperate coilpacks (bosch) that dont sit on top of the engine instead they've been relocated into where the brake booster sits in the corner so it will be easy to change them out, i just dont feel like spending 200 bux on 4 if i can get away with finding out which one is actually the problem child....

Way too rich your fouling them. Just for now try taking the gap down to 0.7 and get the tune checked out

ill try regapping them, we've checked the tune its fine, has a lean cruise and afr's are 12ish on boost, cold start is a little rich, but the problem has only been happening the past 4 weeks, ive had the car back for 3 or 4 months and up untill 3 or 4 weeks ago its been fine, never missed a beat, but now on mebium or highboost setting it breaks down spark hard core, going to attempt to check out each coil pack, if we can't determine if one is the problem ill jusy buy 4 new ones, their only 50 bux ea.. But im at the point where i dont wanna spend the money on it coz if i change em out n the problem is still there then i wont have a clue what to check, and ive checked all the plug leads and their all firmly on the plugs.

Well something has happened since then because all that soot cant be lying, dunno if its your cold start or whatever but definately a rich condition causing that

oh yeah nah the cold start is rich as hell, it even blows smoke but once it warms up its right, i will address that soon... Regapped the plugs to 0.6mm n tore into it on highboost, couldnt get it to break down in spark so ill keep n eye on it n see how it goes, maybe its not a coil pack maybe its the plug gap, but then why would it all of a sudden start running shit after so many weeks of running perfect?

Because your plugs have eventually shit themselves and called it quits look at em lol. Fix your cold start then and see, your plugs will last longer

i hope ur right, it seemed fine on the way to work this mornin n home last night,couldnt get it to break down or miss... Maybe itll come good. We're going to work on the cold start next weekend so we'll see how it goes..

Small update..

 

 

Went over to the ville for a weekend and decided to get my screamer pipe plumbed in on less of an angle and get my mid section muffler replaced as the other one had a massive tear in it and the car was FAR from legal sound... and this is the result..

(these *milkshakes* actually charged me for this!)

i thought i'd give em a go, i wanted to go to bob parkes, they done a fantastic job last time, but they were all booked out and i only had from 12pm friday arvo till whenever they closed coz i was only in town for the weekend, and i needed a new muffler coz by the time i got in to townsville the other one was so loud it was definately going to get me defected. It had a 3 inch split up the guts of it...

Hey Dean,

 

it's not bad man, i like it. It can be a bit noisy on really slow tight turns in parking lots and stuff but i just push clutch in n roll n it shuts up, it locks good, never skips a beat, with my new engine combo its abit jolty/shuddery on really slow cruising (40k's or less) but i think thats more to do with the cams ive got, i cant give you a drift opinion as ive only done small 2nd gear drifts with it, but it locks hard, and i definately recommend these diffs, they have a 3 way adjustable nut inside the diff in between where the shafts go which allows you to adjust your torque setting for it (i am unsure what setting mine is on) so if you get into that stuff that's a bonus. Also to run a nismo gt pro 1.5 way you need 2 standard s14 short half shafts. Which i found out the hard way haha.
